HOW TECHNOLOGY IS CHANGING IN THE AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY

The impact of technology on shaping the automobile industry has been tremendous. As other industries, the car industry too is rapidly progressing in modern times. All such features of the modern car are almost completely unrecognizable from their original counterparts, other than they now have four wheels and a steering wheel.  technology is not only shaping the aspect of quality and efficiency of automobiles, but it is also shaping their pricing. A car of superior quality and with all the advanced facilities will obviously be priced more than a less efficient car.

SOPHISTICATED  PREDICTIVE TECHNOLOGIES

In many regards, the impact of technology on pricing of automobiles can be seen in the way fuel prices are charged today. The main reason for this is that petroleum companies are trying to exploit the value of their crude oil reserves.  an increasing number of vehicle producers are incorporating highly effective and sophisticated predictive technologies into their vehicles. These highly complex and cost-effective systems to monitor engine performance, monitor transmission speed and engine temperature, as well as the condition of various exterior components like the body, interior materials and engines.

ENVIRONMENTAL ADVANTAGES

One of the first changes brought about by these technologies is the rising trend of electric vehicles (EVs). Electric cars allow automobiles to run on virtually free energy produced by batteries. They therefore, offer environmental advantages over traditional gasoline automobiles. Though most EVs emit no fumes or pollutants, they do require constant charging,  that conventional automobiles do not require. Consequently, electric vehicles now account for a growing share of total new car sales.

COMPUTER  AIDED DESIGNS

Another area in which advanced technology is changing the way people purchase automobiles is through its effect on the design of vehicles. Advancements in computer technology have resulted in the creation of highly advance computer aided designs (CAD) that enable engineers to design and manipulate both the materials and architecture of automobiles. As a result, engineers can customize the appearance of modern vehicles. This has led to a growing interest in environmentally friendly vehicles.

 AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS

Even within the automobile industry itself, there is a growing concern about the impact of computers on the assembly line. Assembly line robots have been steadily replacing manual workers in many manufacturing industries. However, these robots can also be damaging to the environment due to emissions,  and dust. Many automobile manufacturers are seeking to reduce their impact on the environment through the use of robots that operate with greater awareness and care.

Driver Assistance Systems (DAS) and Autonomic Technology (ATI) are other advancements that have affected the auto industry. DAS uses highly sophisticated computer hardware to assist drivers with the operation of cars and trucks. ATI, on the other hand, is designed to provide vehicle users with a higher level of safety. Both technologies help to make the driving experience safer for all drivers.

GPS/RFID TECHNOLOGIES

The use of GPS/RFID technologies has also significantly impacted the auto industry due to the increased efficiency of tracking and diagnosing problems in an automobile. The increased accuracy of GPS/RFID technologies allows drivers to locate their vehicles more quickly and easily. The combination of GPS/RFID technologies and other cutting edge technologies has made it possible to diagnose problems in vehicles in a far more timely fashion than ever before. This has resulted in a dramatic  in the number of accidents related to the breakdown of vehicles and other on-road issues that are caused by human error and faulty equipment.

AUTOMOTIVE  INDUSTRY

In addition to tracking and diagnostics, new technologies in the automobile industry have provided consumers with an increased level of convenience. Consumers are now able to purchase and access information about fuel prices, tire wear,  engine performance and others from their personal mobile devices. This increased level of convenience has created a market for wireless devices used in the automotive industry. The expansion of wireless technology has created a new class of devices known as “smart devices” that can be used in the vehicle. These smart devices are specifically designed to perform common car functions such as fueling and diagnostics, but they are capable of doing more than this.
